[Thrift] Thrift + Apache

Hi all,
We're considering moving Thrift into the Apache Incubator, which is
basically the entry point for Apache software projects:
http://incubator.apache.org/
There are a number of reasons to do this, but the main driving factors
are:
1/ Clear up any governance concerns in the community around Facebook
being the sole owner of Thrift
2/ Enable tighter integration with other Apache projects (i.e.
HBase/Hadoop cannot really use Thrift if it's outside of Apache)
3/ Open access to the trunk for outside committers, etc.
Some of the potential concerns are:
1/ Overhead incurred by Apache processes, might slow down development
speed or ability to make tricky changes
2/ Risk of dilution of some core Thrift values:
a/ staying super-lightweight, avoiding feature creep
b/ mindfully choosing when to err on the side of dumb but faster
static constructs over oh-so-elegant but slower dynamic constructs
We could make these lists much longer, but I think this is a sufficient
summary.
It looks to us like the potential benefits outweigh the concerns here,
but we'd like to hear everyone's opinions on this, so let us know what
you think - Reply-to-All is definitely encouraged.
Cheers,
Mark
